AMBITIOUS BREW – THE STORY OF AMERICAN BEERWhen a wave of German immigrants arrived in the middle of the nineteenth century, they re-created the pleasures of the “Biergarten” they had left behind, and invented a new American-style lager beer. In her best-selling book, author Maureen Ogle remembers a time when America counted 4131 breweries. She presents the stories of the German brewers and the youngest crop of today´s micro breweries. This event includes a lecture, food, and a tasting of three beers.

ACHIM HEUKEMES: COAST TO COAST AND BACKIn June, German extreme athlete Achim Heukemes began a unique cross-country trip: He rode his bike from New York City to San Diego, CA, averaging 150 miles a day, then turned around to run back to New York, averaging 65 miles per day. At over 3,200 miles each way, his adventure presents one of the greatest feats in sports history. Heukemes dedicated the project to the victims of 9/11 and will tell you his story in this exclusive event that includes a Q&A session.
